Spurs fans on Twitter have been reacting to some footage of Jan Vertonghen after he named Wolves’ Adama Traore as the toughest player he has faced.
The Spurs Web shared some footage of the Belgian international speaking with a fan after it was originally shared by another account, and when he was asked to name his toughest opponent, he suggested the former Barcelona winger. Spurs faced Nuno Espirito Santo’s side at Molineux back in December and picked up all three points thanks to an injury-time winner from the 33-year-old (per BBC Sport).
However, by his own admission, Traore had the better of him for the entire 90 minutes, which is backed up by the 24-year-old’s impressive 8.5 rating from the game.

These Spurs fans are perhaps sympathetic to Vertonghen having to face Traore’s pace, but are glad that he was able to have the final say with his late winning goal.
What do we think?
Traore has had a fantastic season, averaging a 7.61 rating for his performances in the Premier League, but it is certainly high praise from Vertonghen to name him as his toughest opponent.
