Spurs fans on Twitter have been discussing some old footage of Jose Mourinho, in which he discussed the rebuild that Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp undertook at Manchester City and Liverpool respectively.
The footage was filmed before Mourinho took the Spurs job in November of last year, with the Portuguese manager suggesting that he would hope for a similar level of backing in his next job. LastWordonSpurs shared the old footage on Twitter after it was originally shared by ESPN and it has certainly attracted the attention of plenty of Lilywhites supporters.
During Guardiola’s time with the Citizens, he has spent over £500 million on transfers, which has clearly played a big factor in the Spanish manager being able to deliver two Premier League titles, one FA Cup and three League Cup wins (per Transfermarkt). Mourinho will no doubt be hoping that he can be backed in a similar way by the North London club during his time there.
Will Mourinho ever be given the same amount of backing as Guardiola and Klopp?
Yes
No
Reaction from Spurs fans to the footage of Mourinho can be seen in the tweets below.
Yes, but don’t forget those clubs don’t have Levy running the finances.

If he expects that type of backing from Levy, he deserves to be disappointed…

i think now Levy has put this conversation down

Unfortunately he can’t do it like Klopp and Guardiola did, because there is one stingy for the owner

Most of these fans seem to think that Mourinho won’t be backed by Levy in the way he had hoped for, however one fan remained positive about Spurs’ chances ahead of next season.
This was long before. He also said that he wouldn’t have come to @SpursOfficial if he didn’t think it was a project that could end up a winner.
THIS IS OUR YEAR!@SpursOfficial CAN WIN 20/21 @premierleague TITLE!!!

What do we think?
Considering the financial impact that the current viral outbreak is going to have on football, it is difficult to see Mourinho being heavily backed by the Spurs owners this summer transfer window.
