Spurs fans on Twitter have been discussing a transfer rumour linking the North London club with a move for Lille goalkeeper Mike Maignan this summer.

According to French news outlet La Voix Du Nord (via TranSPURS), the French goalkeeper could link up with Nuno Santos once again; the former Lille goalkeeping coach joined Spurs when Jose Mourinho was appointed in November. So far this season, the 24-year-old ‘keeper has averaged a fairly disappointing 6.58 rating for his performances in Ligue 1, however, he has managed to keep 12 clean sheets in 28 appearances.

Spurs signed Eriksen in 2013 but from which team?

With Hugo Lloris now 33 years old, it is perhaps unsurprising that Spurs are reportedly investigating a long-term replacement for the Frenchman – and with the Lille shot-stopper currently valued at £15.75 million, perhaps he could be a viable option for Mourinho this summer.

Would Maignan be a good signing for Spurs?

Reaction from Spurs fans to the reported interest in Maignan can be seen in the tweets below.

These Spurs fans clearly aren’t too impressed with the reported interest in Maignan having watched the highlights video shared by TranSPURS, with many comparing him to former Spurs ‘keeper Heurelho Gomes, who made 135 appearances for the Lilywhites in his career.

What do we think?

It is perhaps harsh for these Spurs fans to judge Maignan off the highlights video alone, and based on his clean sheet record this season – which is a huge improvement on Spurs’ four clean sheets in the Premier League – perhaps he would be a good signing for the future.
