Spurs fans on Twitter have been reacting to the latest report on Philippe Coutinho, which suggests that Barcelona have offered the Lilywhites the chance to sign him on loan next season.

According to Football Insider (via Hotspur Related), the La Liga side have offered Jose Mourinho’s side the former Liverpool man on loan, provided they pay an £8 million fee.

How well do you remember Heung-Min Son's time with Spurs? - The Lilywhites signed Son from which Bundesliga side?

The 27-year-old has spent this season on loan with Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga, but despite averaging an impressive 7.27 rating for his performances in the German top flight, club chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge confirmed that they wouldn’t be exercising their option to sign the midfielder.

Reaction from Spurs fans to the latest report on Coutinho can be seen in the tweets below.

The Brazilian playmaker is well known to Premier League fans, having joined Liverpool from Inter in January 2013 and going on to make 201 appearances for the Merseyside club, contributing 54 goals and 45 assists (per Transfermarkt).

After his impressive spell with Liverpool, Coutinho completed a move to Barcelona in 2018 in a £142 million deal but he has struggled to nail down a regular spot in the first-team with the Catalan side, making just 76 appearances in all competitions.

It seems, therefore, as if the majority of Spurs fans would love to see their club sign Coutinho on loan this summer, however, some fans disagreed.

Although £8 million might seem like an excessive fee for a loan, Coutinho has proven experience in the Premier League, having contributed 41 goals and 37 assists in 152 appearances in the top-flight (per Transfermarkt), so this could prove to be an excellent signing for Jose Mourinho’s side.
