A lot of Newcastle United fans have flocked to a post from NUFC 360, which has relayed news from Forbes on the Toon’s proposed takeover.

To kick things off, who is this man from the 2009/10 season?

The article, on Forbes Middle East, claims that the Premier League have approved the proposed takeover of the Toon, and it claims that a consortium led by Saudi Arabia’s PIF and the Reuben brothers will now take charge of Newcastle United.

The piece also claims that the new owners intend to spend money on ‘top talent’ and that ‘PIF is able to splurge’.

This has excited many Toon fans, who are now just waiting for official confirmation.

Forbes may not be an English source, but it’s certainly a mammoth one. Indeed, Forbes is ranked as the number 1 most trusted magazine in the United States (via Simmons Research) and has 115 million monthly US users (as of April 2020, via comScore).

What do we think?

It seems as though some of these Newcastle fans are particularly excited about where this information has stemmed from, with previous similar reports, such as from the Daily Express, not being met with the same positivity online as these latest developments have.

This seems like a trustworthy report, though perhaps strangely, it does not mention Amanda Staveley – after all, she is the one that is leading the consortium.

However, their report does support a similar piece published in The Sun, claiming that the takeover had been accepted but the Premier League, and it would be announced on the 1st of June.

It certainly feels now that the end of Mike Ashley’s reign is edging closer.
