A lot of Newcastle United fans have replied to a post from NUFC 360, which has included a tweet from BBC Sport confirming that the Premier League will return on the 17th of June.

Earlier this week, the Premier League moved onto the next phase of training, and now it has been confirmed that the top-flight intends to restart on the 17th of June.

This has pleased these Toon fans who are excited to see the return of Premier League football.

The Premier League has been suspended since the 13th of March, but now that there is a date for its return Newcastle can begin to prepare to finish the season strongly.

The Toon are in 13th place and won their last match 1-0 thanks to a goal from Allan Saint-Maximin – so it will be interesting to see if they can pick up where they left off.

However, it appears that some Newcastle fans thought that this was an announcement on the proposed takeover of the Toon, and they were disappointed to find out that it wasn’t.

Meanwhile, there was optimism that the return of the Premier League could bring about a swifter conclusion to the club’s takeover saga.

The deal for Amanda Staveley’s Saudi-backed consortium to take Newcastle from Mike Ashley has been with the Premier League going through the required checks.

A report in The Sun last week claimed that the deal would be announced on the 1st of June, but new evidence regarding piracy is set to delay the league’s decision and probably make that date redundant.

However, there is hope from the buying side that now the Premier League have sorted out a restart date they can focus on giving their takeover the approval they require.

There was also one Newcastle fan who was not happy to hear that the league is returning, and he was not shy in expressing his feelings on this matter.

It seems that some Toon fans are pleased to see the return of the Premier League after a long absence, but a few are not so keen.

Others just seem to want to know what is going on with this takeover and, therefore, seem to have no interest in the return of the top-flight.
