The Saudi consortium poised to take control of #NUFC have drawn up a blueprint for a major makeover of the club which includes plans to demolish the existing training ground at Darsley Park and invest £25m in state of the art facilities to rival other PL clubs #NewcastleTakeover

Looking forward to @PIF_en , the Rubens & Staveley improve the club so we have some ambition!#nufc— Paul Sutcliffe (@PaulSutcliffe80) May 17, 2020
This should be priority number 1 really. Imagine trying to attract big name players then showing them a training ground that looks like an old people’s home…

Would be huge for the club if it comes to pass. It’s been neglected for far too long. Dustbins and paddling pools man ?

Other Newcastle supporters, though, appear to be less sure.

Recent article in The Althletic stated that the would be buyers haven’t even started to think of what is needed or where it would be so to put a cost on it would be foolish but if they’re aiming for comparable facilities then £25m wouldn’t get you that. Citys cost £80m 5 yrs ago

What do we think?
Smith claims that the Premier League are ‘very close’ to granting Amanda Staveley’s Saudi-backed consortium approval in their bid to take control of Newcastle United.
If what he says is true, then they might have plans for the training ground, which was one of the reasons that Rafael Benitez left the club in the summer of 2019.
However, according to The Athletic, there are no plans yet in place for any training ground improvements – so we will just have to see what happens.
