A lot of Newcastle United fans have replied to a tweet from NUFC 360, which has relayed some quotes made by Richard Wearmouth, a councillor in Northumberland.
Wearmouth, speaking to the Northumberland Gazette, claimed that this proposed takeover ‘is one of the single most significant economic and socially transformative things that could happen in Tyneside and the wider area’.
He believes that if the Premier League don’t approve the deal, then the region could lose ‘millions of pounds of investment’.
Wearmouth also believes that this takeover would just represent a continuation of trade with Saudi Arabia, and he wants to see it go through.
This has delighted many Toon fans.
Are you pleased to see some political support for the takeover?
Yes

What do we think?
The deal for Amanda Staveley’s Saudi-backed consortium to take control of Newcastle United is currently with the Premier League going through the required checks after a deposit was paid to Mike Ashley.
Paul Smith claimed last week that the league were ‘very close’ to approving the deal.
If that happens, then, according to Wearmouth, this takeover would not just be good for the Toon but also the city of Newcastle.
