A lot of Newcastle United fans have replied to a tweet from NUFC 360, which has relayed quotes made in Mundo Deportivo.
The report claims that Philippe Coutinho would be willing to join Newcastle should the proposed takeover go through and should they appoint Mauricio Pochettino as boss.
This news got some Toon fans dreaming.
Philippe Coutinho would be prepared to join Newcastle if Mauricio Pochettino becomes their new manager. Barcelona want around £80M for the player. He has 21 goals and 11 assists in 76 matches for Barca. [Mundo Deportivo] #NUFC pic.twitter.com/CmuKVv9d6C

He’d be the dream marquee signing.
27 years old, peak of his career. Would be some statement of intent.— Mouth of the Tyne ??? (@ToonMouthTyne) May 3, 2020
This is the one I want…!!! #NUFC

This lad is a player of the highest quality! Even if we got him & a good striker like Dembele we’d be transformed! #nufc upgrades at RB & CM and rest is alright imo

Have a feeling he’d only come back to the PL for Liverpool, or maybe Chelsea but I mean, who would say no ?????

I think he would come regardless of the Manager. We are selling a project to him. He would be a class signing.

What do we think?
The proposed takeover of Newcastle United is currently with the Premier League going through the relevant checks after a deposit was paid to Mike Ashley.
Do you think Coutinho would want to move to Tyneside?
Yes
No
If it is accepted, then Newcastle have supposedly targeted Pochettino to replace Steve Bruce, and according to this report, if that happened then, Coutinho would be interested in a move to St James’ Park.
The former Liverpool man could be allowed to leave Barcelona in the summer, and the Toon could be a viable option for the 27-year-old.
However, we are not sure it is right to be speculating on potential signings when there has been no official announcement on the proposed takeover.
