Some Newcastle United supporters have been discussing a recent interview given by Jonjo Shelvey to TalkSPORT.
The midfielder discussed a range of topics and told reporter James Savundra: “I am 28 now and that is when players come into their peak. I have felt stronger and fitter in my body.”
The former Liverpool player has made 17 appearances in the Premier League for Steve Bruce’s side this season and scored five goals, three of which came in successive fixtures versus Manchester City, Sheffield United and Southampton (via Transfermarkt.co.uk).
This is how have the fans responded to their player’s recent comments after they were shared by The Chronicle on Twitter.

What do we think?
It’s clear from the above responses that many of these Newcastle United fans are unconvinced there is anything more to come from Shelvey. According to WhoScored.com, his average performance rating in the Premier League currently stands at a respectable 7.08/10. However, it remains to be seen whether he can improve further and prove himself to the prospective owners and any manager who might arrive in the not-too-distant future.
