A lot of Newcastle United fans have replied to a tweet from The Chronicle that includes a link to a piece that Alex Keble has produced.
He claims that signing Philippe Coutinho would signal the Toon’s intention that they want to be a superclub.
Keble compares this to when Manchester City were taken over and bought Robinho; calling it a move that ‘put the club on the map’.
He also says that Coutinho is likely to be the only player of the same calibre as Robinho, who could take the risk of signing for the Toon if the takeover happens.

Yes
This piece, however, has attracted criticism from many Toon fans, who do not think that they should be speculating about players until the takeover is announced.
Like Robinho at Man City, #NUFC will need a marquee signing for others to follow https://t.co/3tODbcLdAN

Let’s get the takeover done first eh!? A lot of Toon fans (myself included) feel very nervy abt the takeover at the minute and daring to dream is not helping my sanity!! #nufc

What do we think?
Coutinho was previously linked with a move to Newcastle by Mundo Deportivo, but we agree with these fans that these links to players are pointless until an official announcement on the takeover is made.
