A lot of Newcastle United fans have replied to a tweet from Will Shearer regarding the proposed takeover of the Toon.
The son of Newcastle legend Alan Shearer put out a tweet that said, ‘this must be close now!’.
Included in his tweet was a link to a post from Sky Sports Premier League stating that the Premier League have approved the proposed takeover of the Toon.
Further investigation of the tweet takes you to Sky Sports’ Paper Talk section, where they have included the story from The Sun.
The Sun claims that the Premier League have approved Amanda Staveley’s Saudi-backed takeover of Newcastle, and there will be an official announcement of the deal on the 1st of June.
However, it is Shearer’s tweet that has attracted the attention of these Toon fans and also former Magpies striker Michael Chopra.
Do you agree with Will Shearer?

Get your dad to have a word with the new owners to give him a role in the club. Need our legends back involved with the club. Bring back the feel good.

What do we think?
It appears that Alan’s son is getting excited, and this report from The Sun does suggest that by the end of the day on 1st June, Mike Ashley will no longer be the owner of Newcastle United.
It will be interesting to see what happens.
