A lot of Newcastle United fans have replied to a post from Luke Edwards as he provided his view on the proposed takeover of the Toon.
Edwards claimed: “There has been no official or unofficial notification from [the] Premier League given to anyone currently involved in running/ownership of #NUFC that they’re going to green-light the #NUFCTakeover.”
He, therefore, believes that nothing has changed, but that the takeover remains ‘imminent’.
This has drawn the attention of these Toon fans.
Does this bother you?
No
Yes
There has been no official or unofficial notification from Premier League given to anyone currently involved in running/ownership of #nufc that they’re going to greenlight #NUFCTakeover So, what does that mean? Mainly nothing has changed yet. The takeover remains “imminent”

This tweet doesn’t even make sense.
Point 1) No green light given officially/unofficially. ?
Point 2) Takeover completion IMMINENT. ?
Complete contradiction.#NUFC

Doesn’t make sense… someone has told him nothing official or unofficial has been said, but they’ve also said it’s going to get the greenlight and that it’s imminent…seems like this is just being said to stretch the clickbait out that bit further

You wouldn’t know if there was ?????

Here we go again. So what your saying is nothing has actually changed? ??
— Maggies (@deaNo_oO) May 22, 2020
It’s been imminent since the end of April.. bored of this now!
— Matty Symmonds (@mattsymmonds) May 22, 2020
This takeover has taxed the definition of the word imminent to its limits
— Martin Johnson (@MartinJohnson10) May 22, 2020
This confuses me even more. Who said it’s imminent? Buyers, Sellers or EPL? How do they know it’s imminent if no one is talking and nothing has changed?

wow your such a fantastic journalist how do you do it holmes

Someone’s been on the phone his Brucie. Will he get a nice long article about how he’d take us to the champions league if only Mandy would believe in him? #nufc #NUFCTakeover

What do we think?
Edwards’ claims are backed up by those of Daily Mail reporter Craig Hope’s, and while Sky Sports’ Pete Graves even replied in the tweets to support Edwards.
However, Edwards’ Telegraph colleague Jason Burt produced a piece on Friday claiming that the Premier League are likely to grant Amanda Staveley’s Saudi-backed consortium the green light.
This is also supported by a piece from Neil Custis in The Sun, who believes that the league have already approved the deal, and an official announcement will be made on 1st June.
Therefore, there are a lot of contrasting claims out there at the moment, but Graves did urge Toon fans to have patience, and we agree with him on this one.
