Fans of Newcastle United have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which discusses the reported objections to the club’s proposed takeover.
The post, which was shared by NUFC 360, stated: “There are letters and ‘protests’ surrounding the takeover which have come to the fore after the tests started. This is supposed to be a confidential process, hence the ‘no comments’ from the Premier League. It’s not a trial to submit evidence from ‘bystanders’, or am I wrong?“
In reaction to the tweet, fans of the club have flocked to have their say on the matter, with many stating their belief that the Premier League is simply delaying confirmation of the deal so that onlookers do not complain about the takeover being processed too quickly, while others have questioned the timing of the concerns raised by third parties.
Are you confident the takeover will be completed?
Yes
No
There are letters and "protest" surrounding the takeover which have come to the fore after the tests started. This is supposed to be a confidential process, hence the "no comments" from the PL.
It's not a trial to submit evidence from "bystanders", or am I wrong? #NUFC

I imagine it’s all done and dusted but the PL wants to delay it to stop people moaning about them passing it too quickly without looking into anything. With this delay, they can say they checked high and low and couldn’t find fault with the owners/deal.

Firstly premier league need this investment, secondly competition is good. Another big spending club is needed in the current stalled spending market and that’s before we even get to the PL knocking this back politically or otherwise when UK sell to Saudi

In all honesty, I think the PL have received all these letters and complaints, and chucked them straight in the shredder without even looking at them. They’re an arrogant bunch.

If public evidence influenced PL decisions, Mike Ashley would have been under PL scrutiny long ago.

This will end up in court

also, why have certain people waited until the 11th hour of the tests to raise their objections.
if they were that important, wouldn’t you make your objections known immediately.

Premier league are probably dragging this on as long as possible until someone gives them a reason to stop the takeover
— Jordan Butterfield (@GeordieJordan96) May 13, 2020
You’re correct. Its a test not a trial and its being played out in public when it shouldnt be. Ignore the speculation.

What do we think?
Reports on Wednesday claimed that the Premier League’s lawyers have gained possession of new documents, which relate to allegations that Saudi Arabia hosted a pirate streaming platform which illegally broadcasted Premier League fixtures.
As such, if the documents prove a link between the Saudi government and the illegal streaming platform, it could result in the Saudi-backed consortium failing the fit-and-proper owners’ test which is currently being carried out by the Premier League.
However, at present, there has been no official update from the Premier League on the progression of the takeover, meaning that Newcastle fans face an anxious wait on the outcome for a little while longer yet.
