A group of Liverpool supporters have been discussing Georginio Wijnaldum’s recent social media post. The Dutch international shared a pair of images of himself dressed in Adidas sportswear and encouraged fans to stay patient in regards to the return of football.
Wijnaldum, who is valued at £36 million (as per Transfermarkt), signed for the Reds in July 2016 from Newcastle United in a deal reportedly worth £24.75m (via Transfermarkt.co.uk). The 29-year-old is an integral part of Jurgen Klopp’s team, having started in 97% of their Premier League fixtures so far this season.
Here is how a sample of the Anfield faithful has responded to the player’s post.

What do we think?
Wijnaldum’s contract is due to expire at the end of the 2020/21 campaign and he is yet to sign an extension which would keep him on Merseyside beyond then. It’s clear from the above responses that the midfielder is a very popular figure amongst the club’s supporters.
He has played 89% of Liverpool’s total Premier League minutes during this current campaign and is on course to become a champion with the Reds if and when it is deemed safe for the season to resume.
