Liverpool were hoping to raise funds through the sales of Xherdan Shaqiri, Marko Grujic and Harry Wilson this summer, however, the global pandemic has made all future deals uncertainties, according to James Pearce of The Athletic.
Grujic is currently on loan at Hertha Berlin, Harry Wilson is at Bournemouth and Xherdan Shaqiri has struggled for game time at Anfield this season.
The news was relayed on Twitter via @AnfieldEdition and here is how some of the club’s faithful have responded to the update.
Raise funds? Record profits, club at all time high and our club will sit on their hands and cheque books. Are we trying to build a conquering squad or happy with a blockbusting XI that won’t even be injured?

Would you be happy to see all three of these players sold in the summer?
Yes
No
It’s is understood why Shaqiri would be sold
But it’s strange for me to sell both Grujic and Wilson, guys with great potential (only the purchase of Werner and somebody else would make me to accept this).— SamNikeng (@SamNikeng) May 20, 2020
So after last summer we still needed to sell to buy

What do we think?
It’s clear from the above responses that some fans are disappointed to hear the club are looking to raise funds by selling the aforementioned players. Grujic has made 21 Bundesliga appearances for Hertha Berlin this season, scoring three goals and providing one assist so far. According to WhoScored.com, his average performance rating currently stands at 6.94/10.
Meanwhile, Wilson has scored seven goals in the Premier League for Bournemouth and his average performance rating stands at 6.64/10. As for Xherdan Shaqiri, the Swiss international has been limited to just 10 appearances in all competitions this season (via Transfermarkt.co.uk).
None of these players currently play a key role in Jurgen Klopp’s side, but that’s not to say Grujic and Wilson can’t do so in the future. It is unclear how the recent pandemic will impact the transfer market this summer, so it remains to be seen whether anybody will match Liverpool’s valuation for the trio in question.
