Liverpool fans on Twitter have been responding to the latest news surrounding the current owners of Manchester City.
This comes after Liverpool fan Twitter account @AnfieldEdition shared a post on their page relaying a report published by the Daily Mirror.
The article relayed comments made by former Liverpool player Graeme Souness on Sky Sports’ The Football Show who revealed that during a conversation with Amanda Staveley, she revealed that Manchester City’s Abu Dhabi family owners “tried and tried” to purchase Liverpool before they ended up at the Manchester club.
When asked by Souness why they didn’t go through with the deal, Staveley claimed: “Gillett and Hicks were so difficult to deal with, they just walked away in the end.”
This post then gathered a lot of replies from Liverpool fans who were eager to share their thoughts on this development.

Probably could have bought some trophies, but we wouldn’t have FSG, therefore we wouldn’t have Klopp, or the team we have today.

Probably the only good thing Hicks and Gillett done.

What do we think?
It appears that these Liverpool fans are quite thankful that the current Manchester City owners didn’t take over the Merseyside club when they had the chance.
