Fans of Everton have been reacting to quotes from the Toffees’ Turkish striker Cenk Tosun which emerged on social media.
In an interview with BeIN SPORTS Turkey, which was covered by Sporx and cited by Sport Witness, the striker stated that he will “fight” for a starting spot at Goodison Park when he returns from injury (via @TheGwladysSt), which had fans talking.
?Cenk Tosun on his aim when he returns from injury. “I will be ready to fight for my spot at Everton when I come back. I want to play as much as I can. Next summer, we will have Euro 2021 and I’ll also consider this when making a decision.”#EFC pic.twitter.com/eMYahEA3wF

Wouldn’t believe a word he says he’s not good enough we need to sell him ASAP

I admire his determination. I’m a little gutted it didn’t work out for him. I’m not sure how blessed they are with forwards, but if he has any ambitions of leading Turkey in the Euros then he needs to move on I’m afraid. He seems to do the business for them.

Would you be open to giving Cenk Tosun another chance in the first team? No, that ship has well and truly sailedYes, worth another chance |
In the interview, the Turkish forward explained that he wants to play as much as he can upon his return from injury to earn a spot in Turkey’s Euro 2021 squad.
However, after the quotes were relayed to Everton fans on social media (via @TheGwladysSt), supporters continued to air that he should be moved on.

What do we think?
As can be seen in these responses from Everton fans, they are convinced that Tosun is not good enough to fight for his place with the Toffees.
If the 28-year-old’s loan stint with Crystal Palace is anything to go by, fans may be correct, as the striker earned a weak 6.47/10 average rating in five Premier League appearances at Selhurst Park (per WhoScored).
