Aston Villa fans on Twitter have been responding to a recently posted suggestion on how the club could avoid relegation this season.
This comes after Villa fan Twitter account @AVFCTransTweet shared a post on their page suggesting that if the current league table is ultimately decided on a points-per-game (PPG) basis, then it would have to be centred on the last point when all Premier League teams had played the same amount of matches.
This post also contained an image of the Premier League table after all teams had played 27 matches. If the season is ended with this suggestion, then it would result in Villa avoiding relegation as they were in 17th place at that point in time.
This post then gathered a lot of replies from Villa fans who were eager to share their thoughts on this suggestion.
Here’s a sample of Villa fans responding to the post:
Surely if it goes to a PPG scenario then you do it when everyone had last played the same amount of games. #AVFC pic.twitter.com/iWQu3N9f6N

That’s what I’d argue, because they’ve all had an extra games chance to get 3 points, which we havent had

That’s what the did in France – results from the incomplete round were cancelled

Will the season continue or be cancelled?
It will continue
It will be cancelled
I think that will be the case, hence why West Ham are so vocal about voiding the season

Villa would be punished essentially for having a successful cup run

What do we think?
It’s understandable why these Villa fans would be open to any suggestion that would result in their team remaining in the Premier League this season.
