Some Sheffield Wednesday have been hailing a video involving Jamie Vardy that went viral on social media recently.
The video was posted by an Owls fan and it had former youth player Vardy talk about the rivalry involving Wednesday and Sheffield United. On being asked about the United jersey, Vardy said: “I’m not touching that.”
While he went on to talk about what the rivalry means to the people of Sheffield, the comment about the Blades jersey caught the attention of many Owls fans. This left them lauding the Leicester City striker.

The video was from an interview with BT Sport in which Vardy expressed the love for his hometown club.
While Vardy has never played for Wednesday as a senior, he does have a good record against Sheffield United, with two goals in as many games. The most recent of those came in the Premier League this season, as he helped the Foxes to a 2-1 win at Bramall Lane.
What do we think?
Vardy is the Premier League’s leading scorer this season and considering he’s a Wednesday fan, the Owls fans are right to be happy for him. But since he is already 33, it may be a big ask to see him playing for the club he supports before he retires. His deal at King Power runs out in the summer of 2022 and he will be 35 by then. This arguably reduces the chances of him signing for the Owls in the future.
