Sheffield Wednesday: Some Owls fans mock EFL update

|

Some Sheffield Wednesday fans have been mocking the latest EFL update about when the Championship season could restart.

The latest update from the EFL has said that clubs outside the Premier League cannot resume training till ‘May 16th at the earliest’. The authorities have said that they’ll take about 56 days to complete the current season.

To kick off our quiz on the inaugural 2004/05 EFL Championship campaign, who managed Sunderland to a first-place finish in the 2004/05 Championship season?

A Wednesday-related page called Vital Wednesday relayed this piece of information on Twitter. But Owls fans were mocking the update and made their displeasure for the club known.

Can Wednesday get relegated this season?

Of course

Of course

I don't think so

Wednesday are currently at 15th in the Championship table and have 48 points in the bag so far. The Owls are only nine points clear of 22nd placed Charlton, who have 39 points so far this season.

What do we think?

Wednesday’s form in the Championship in 2020 has been poor. It has seen the club win just two games in 12 outings. Those wins came against Leeds and Charlton. Their last game before the suspension saw them lose 5-0 to Brentford.

This proves why Owls fans are frustrated and that mocking the update seems an expression of that frustration. But they can only hope that this break allows their team a much-needed break to kick on whenever football resumes.
