To kick off our quiz on the inaugural 2004/05 EFL Championship campaign, who managed Sunderland to a first-place finish in the 2004/05 Championship season?

What do we think?

Upon signing a new contract for the Owls back in July 2016, Sheffield Wednesday’s official website described Semedo as “a fan favourite both on and off the pitch”. After joining the club in July 2011, the 35-year-old midfielder went on to enjoy a total of six years at Hillsborough before he ultimately ended his time at Wednesday in July 2017. Semedo made 167 appearances in all competitions for the Owls during his six-year tenure at the club, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.

Semedo’s final season at Wednesday, the 2016/17 campaign, saw the Owls finish in fourth place in the Championship. That is the highest league placing that Wednesday have achieved since being relegated from England’s top tier in the 1999/00 season

It may be fair to say that Wednesday enjoyed a relatively positive campaign during Semedo’s final season as an Owls player. Considering that he was described as a “fan favourite” during his time at the club, it may be understandable why some Owls supporters may hold some positive memories of Semedo and his time at Hillsborough.
