No. As much as I really wanted him to stay, we were in no position to compete with Fulham fee or wage wise. If we would have broke the bank, we would have ended up with yet another over inflated senior player on the books for years. Hopefully we are learning from past mistakes.

What do we think?
Hector, who is valued at £4.32 million (as per Transfermarkt), joined Wednesday on loan from Chelsea in August 2018 for the 2018/19 season. The defender featured in 37 of the Owls’ 46 league games last season. He earned an average overall rating of 7.01 from his Championship performances for the Owls, as per WhoScored.com.
Despite that, Wednesday didn’t bring Hector to Hillsborough on a permanent basis upon the expiration of his loan deal with the club, with the 27-year-old defender ultimately making a permanent move to Fulham this past January, costing the Cottagers a transfer fee of £5.31m.
Hector has earned an average overall rating of 7.07 from his 11 Championship appearances for Fulham this term, as per WhoScored.com. This makes him their third-highest rated player for the 2019/20 season.
It may be fair to say that Hector played a fairly significant role for the Owls last season, considering the number of appearances that he made for the club. With that in mind, in addition to his impressive performances for Fulham this term, it may be understandable why some Wednesday supporters may feel disappointed that their club didn’t bring Hector to the club on a permanent deal.
However, considering that the Owls have spent an overall total of £990k in the transfer market this season, it may also be understandable why some Wednesday fans have pointed to Hector’s transfer fee as the reasoning behind their club’s decision not to sign the Jamaican international.
