Former Sheffield Wednesday star Chris Waddle has branded his former club a “mess”, as reported via Yorkshire Live. Waddle, who starred for the Owls between 1992 and 1996, has pulled no punches when delivering his assessment of where his former employers are at.
The 59-year-old has blasted the club’s recruitment policy and claimed the club will never return to the ‘promised land’ with Dejphon Chansiri at the helm. He also went on to say that the Owls “should have been making the play-offs every season” under the Thai businessman’s control.
How have the supporters responded to Waddle’s comments?
He can say what he wants @chriswaddle93 is god ???

Hard to disagree with Waddle, compare the Playoff final team to the team now player for player and only Iorfa for me would get in, possible Fletcher

The money was blown in the first few years of Chansiri. I don’t particularly blame the players brought in during the last couple of years, as they were cheap options.

What do we think?
It’s clear that Chris Waddle’s comments have the backing of most of these Sheffield Wednesday supporters. The club currently finds themselves eight points behind the play-off positions, with Waddle of the belief that a top-six finish is a minimum requirement for the Owls.
His comments will only have increased the pressure on the ownership and Garry Monk but given the evidence, it’s difficult to disagree with what the former England international has had to say.
