Sheffield Wednesday-focused Twitter account @VitalWednesday recently posted a tweet claiming that the Owls “should offer” 31-year-old Kieran Lee a new contract in the summer. This tweet has caught the attention of many Wednesday supporters.

Many Owls fans have disagreed with this post, sharing their belief that the midfielder should be allowed to leave the club at the end of his current contract, which is set to expire on 30 June, as per Transfermarkt.co.uk.

Lee, who is valued at £360k (as per Transfermarkt), has featured in 23 of Sheffield Wednesday’s 37 Championship games this season, providing a total of five league assists this term. Only two players have made more Championship assists for the Owls this year. Despite this, many Owls fans have flocked to @VitalWednesday’s recent post about the 31-year-old midfielder to share their feelings that it may be time for him to move on from the club.

Read the recent posts from some Wednesday fans who have been calling for the club to let Lee go at the end of his current contract in the tweets below.

Yorkshire Live recently published an article which featured Owls-focused journalist Dom Howson answering fans’ questions about the club. While he confirmed that the Owls are focusing mainly on “tying down” Morgan Fox and Steven Fletcher to new deals at present, Howson doesn’t even mention Lee when discussing the Wednesday players who may receive a new contract offer before their current deal expires this summer. This may give us an indication that the Owls might not be particularly interested in renewing the 31-year-old’s contract.
