Fans of Crystal Palace have been reacting to a post on Twitter, in which Andros Townsend acknowledges the fact that one of his goals has been voted the best first-time volley in Premier League history.
In the post, Townsend quote-tweets the official Crystal Palace Twitter account, which shows footage of the winger’s stunning volley in the Eagles’ 3-2 victory over Manchester City back in 2018. According to the club’s post, the strike has been voted the best first-time volley in Premier League history.
In reaction to his post, fans of Palace have flocked to have their say on the matter, with many claiming that the goal was better than anything Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo or Zlatan Ibrahimovic has scored, while others have stated that the accolade is fully deserved.

What do we think?
Although many Crystal Palace fans feel that Townsend fully deserves the accolade of best first-time Premier League volley, his goalscoring record for Palace is somewhat less impressive.
Since joining Palace from Newcastle in 2016, the former England international has made 140 appearances for the South London club, scoring just 15 goals.
Indeed, the story was similar when the £10.8 million-rated winger was at Tottenham, with 11 goals in 93 appearances, while at Newcastle he fared slightly better, with 4 goals in 13 games.
Despite this low goalscoring return, Palace fans appear to hold Townsend in high regard, and after rewatching that strike against City, who can blame them?
