The Dutch “lead” that Numan suggests Scottish football follow saw Ajax – who led the Eredivisie on goal difference – awarded Champions League football for the 2020/21 season, but not the title.

In reaction to his comments, which were relayed by the Daily Record Sport Twitter account, fans of the club have flocked to have their say on the matter, with many agreeing with Numan’s remarks, claiming that it is the only fair way to end the season if the remaining fixtures cannot be fulfilled.

While many fans appear to agree with the comments made by their former player, recent reports in the Daily Mail state that the Dutch league could, in fact, reverse its decision to end its season prematurely, as many Dutch clubs within the league are threatening legal action.

As such, it would appear that there is no easy answer to how leagues should end their seasons amid the current viral outbreak, however, it is clear that many Rangers fans believe that the Scottish Premiership season should be declared null and void.
