Some Celtic fans have been discussing the latest Premiership update involving St. Mirren that emerged on Twitter recently.

The Daily Record recently ran an article including a statement from St. Mirren, in which the club gives its ‘full backing’ to the SPFL to terminate the Scottish Championship, League One and League Two campaigns. They also said that they ‘appreciate’ that there will be an EGM on 12th May, but are backing calls for the Premiership season to be terminated.

The SPFL has previously announced the ending of the 2019/20 season in the Scottish Championship, League One and League Two. This ruling will see the leagues decided on a points-per-game basis.

What do we think?

One can see why Celtic fans are happy with St. Mirren considering how the ruling in the lower divisions could mean the same fate awaits the top tier – and hand Celtic another title, with the Hoops top of the Premiership thanks to a 13-point lead at the top.

This means that if the Premiership games cannot be played, Celtic will be crowned champions. If St. Mirren can help the Hoops in that cause, it is bound to make the fans happy.
