Supporters of Wolverhampton Wanderers have named Matt Doherty as the ‘best Wolves bargain signing of the last 20 years’ on Twitter.
On Thursday, @WolvesFC_Latest posed the question to supporters over who they felt had been an impressive, cheap signing for the Old Gold, which had many suggesting the Irishman.

Got to be Doherty, followed closely by Moutinho.

Yes, this guy – world-class in every sense. But at 75K (allegedly), Doherty has to be up there.

Of the two, who would you say was the better bargain signing for Wolves?Joao MoutinhoMatt Doherty |
The 28-year-old defender has been with the Molineux club since the summer of 2010 when he joined the Old Gold from Bohemians for a fee of £81,000 (per Transfermarkt).
After 291 appearances for Wolves, in which he has bagged 28 goals and 39 assists, Doherty is valued at £14.4 million (per Transfermarkt), which left many believing that he was the obvious choice.
Doc for £70k or whatever. So important to the way we play.

What do we think?
To have joined the club for such a small fee in 2010 (per Transfermarkt), to then become a key player for Nuno Espirito Santo 10 years later (per WhoScored), it is clear to see why so many supporters chose the Irishman.
This season, Doherty has been the fifth-best performer for Wolves in the Premier League, with a solid 6.97/10 average rating (as per WhoScored).
