The 28-year-old defender has been with the Molineux club since the summer of 2010 when he joined the Old Gold from Bohemians for a fee of £81,000 (per Transfermarkt).

After 291 appearances for Wolves, in which he has bagged 28 goals and 39 assists, Doherty is valued at £14.4 million (per Transfermarkt), which left many believing that he was the obvious choice.

What do we think?

To have joined the club for such a small fee in 2010 (per Transfermarkt), to then become a key player for Nuno Espirito Santo 10 years later (per WhoScored), it is clear to see why so many supporters chose the Irishman.

This season, Doherty has been the fifth-best performer for Wolves in the Premier League, with a solid 6.97/10 average rating (as per WhoScored).
