Spurs fans have been discussing a transfer rumour linking them with a move for Benfica centre-back Ruben Dias.
According to Football.London (via The Spurs Web), the North London club are taking an interest in the Portuguese defender, whose agent Jorge Mendes is reportedly a close friend of Jose Mourinho’s. The report from Football.London suggests that:
“The Spurs boss is keen on returning to old club Benfica to take another player, after Gedson Fernandes’ January loan. That move would be for Portugal international Ruben Dias, who will be 23 by the time football returns.”
So far this season, the 22-year-old has averaged an impressive 7.06 rating for his performances in Liga NOS, averaging 1.3 tackles per game and 2.8 clearances per game for the Portuguese side.

What do we think?
With Jan Vertonghen potentially leaving in the summer when his contract expires, signing a 22-year-old Dias as his long-term replacement could be a great bit of business by Spurs. However, with the Portuguese international currently valued at £27.45 million, it could be an expensive deal for the club.
