Spurs fans have been discussing a transfer rumour linking Tanguy Ndombele with a move to Barcelona in the summer transfer window, as well as the fact that the player has told the club that he does not intend to have a second season at Spurs if conditions don’t change.
According to French news outlet L’Equipe (via The Spurs Web), Ndombele is facing an uncertain future at Spurs. The 23-year-old has endured a disappointing first season in the Premier League after joining for a club-record fee from Lyon last summer; having made just 12 starts in the top-flight so far this season, contributing two goals and two assists.
The Daily Mail has suggested that reports in Spain have linked the Frenchman with a sensational move to Barcelona ahead of a potential summer bid from the Catalan giants.
It seems as if Barcelona are perhaps basing their interest therefore off his impressive performances in the Champions League, where he averaged a superb 7.34 rating. The French international was heavily criticised following Spurs’ last Premier League fixture against Burnley, with Jose Mourinho suggesting that “I know the Premier League is difficult, and some players take a long time to adapt to a different league. But a player with his potential has to give us more than he is giving us” (via BBC).

These Spurs fans seem to be in agreement that it would be a mistake to let Ndombele leave this summer, as they feel that the 23-year-old has shown glimpses of quality and just needs to get fit.

It would perhaps be a surprise to see Spurs’ record signing leave after just one season with the North London club but if Barcelona come in with a strong offer for the £46.8 million-rated man then maybe Spurs will cash in.
