Spurs fans have been discussing former player Marcus Edwards after some footage of the winger was shared on Twitter.
Spurs fan ZayTHFC shared footage of the 21-year-old, after it was originally tweeted out by the former Spurs player and it has attracted the attention of plenty of Spurs fans. The former academy graduate was sold to Portuguese side Vitoria SC last summer and has impressed in his debut season with the Liga NOS side, having averaged a superb 7.29 rating in the league, contributing four goals and four assists.
During his time at the club, Mauricio Pochettino once likened the youngster to Lionel Messi, but he was never really able to make an impact on the first team at the North London club, making just one appearance for the senior side.
Was it a mistake to sell Edwards?
Yes
No
Reaction from Spurs fans to the footage of Edwards can be seen in the tweets below.
Another Ravel Morrison. Massive potential but attitude problems made him a toxic presence. The club did the right thing on this occasion.

On this occasion this sale was done by Pochettino.
He never seem to like players with trickery and pace.

No reason he should have kept him

Think it was on Pochettino more than Levy. He didn’t like his attitude

Swear there’s a buy back clause

Would love there to be, hopefully there is but the few articles and pieces out there just said a large sell on %

These Spurs fans seem split between agreeing that Edwards should have been sold and hoping that the club have a buy-back clause.
What do we think?
Alasdair Gold suggested in an article for Football.london that the club have a 50% sell-on fee for the winger rather than a buy-back clause, although if they did bring him back that would of course lower the fee significantly. It will be interesting to see if any Premier League clubs are taking a look at Edwards after his impressive start to life in Portugal.
