Spurs fans on Twitter have been discussing former midfielder Mousa Dembele and judging his time at the Lilywhites.
The Belgian international joined Spurs from Fulham in 2012 and went on to make 249 appearances for the North London club in his time there; contributing 10 goals and 12 assists. Unfortunately, injuries took their toll on the midfielder and he was allowed to join Chinese side Guangzhou R & F in January of last year.
The Spursy Podcast asked Spurs fans for their opinions on the 32-year-old midfielder’s time with the Lilywhites, which has attracted plenty of supporters of the North London club on Twitter.
If Dembele was injury-free would he still be at Spurs?
Yes

World class player, heavily missed, one of the best technical players I’ve laid eyes on

Absolute monster on the pitch. You felt safe when he was on the ball. Was made of glass though and missed a lot of games through injury. One of the most talented players we’ve ever had. Baller.

Proper player, rarely lost the ball. Massive loss when he went

One of my favourite ever spurs players. So strong and so gifted. Was confident we’d win when I saw him in the lineup. Watch any of the spurs lads do ‘team mates’ they all say he was the best player at the club

My favorite Spurs player. Big call I know. But he took us to the next level. What he did off the ball is criminally underrated because how good he was on it

Such a baller. The way he used to drop his shoulder and just walk through/past the opposition. Such a good player and such a loss.

A wonderful player. Strong, skilful, and so consistent. His gradual decline explains a lot about the team’s parallel deterioration.

Ndombele should be watching videos of this guy and getting fit during lock down,

These Spurs fans are clearly still big fans of Dembele and the impact he had on the team during his time at the North London club.
What do we think?
Dembele’s performances in the Chinese Super League this season suggest that he still has a lot of talent, as he has averaged an impressive 7.41 rating and is perhaps too good to be playing there, which makes you wonder if he could still be with the Lilywhites.
