Newcastle United goalkeeper Martin Dubravka has been discussing the potential takeover of the club and what it could mean for the Magpies. The 31-year-old shared some of his thoughts in an interview with Slovakian news outlet Sport.SK and even suggested a return for Rafael Benitez could be on the cards.
It’s understood that Mike Ashley’s sale of the club is edging closer and that an announcement is ‘imminent’ (via The Shields Gazette). Dubravka said: “If this happens and the club sells, it will probably come with a huge supply of finance,” before adding: “But I heard that Rafael Benitez could also come back. There is a lot of speculation.”
Here is how some of the club’s supporters have reacted to the stopper’s comments.
I beg benitez comes back

Not surprised hes commenting, hes the only player who won’t be worried about being replaced. For me currently our only champions league level player

Has to be done now, surely. No way would a player ever comment on the owners if there was even a chance of Ashley staying

What do we think?
These supporters believe that Martin Dubravka and the rest of the squad must have been updated for him to be speaking so openly regarding the club changing hands prior to its official confirmation. Perhaps an announcement is not far away.
