In his latest article for Football.London Alasdair Gold named 10 free agents that Spurs could look at in the summer but admitted that Norwich City’s Max Aarons is the club’s top right-back target.

The journalist was discussing a potential move for PSG’s Thomas Meunier, who will be available when his contract with the French side expires this summer, but also made it clear that the club’s first-choice is Aarons.

Here’s exactly what Alasdair Gold had to say:

“Tottenham’s first-choice right-back to bring in this summer is Norwich City’s Max Aarons, but Meunier could be looked at as a cheap alternative to provide competition at right-back.”

The 20-year-old right-back has been a regular in Daniel Farke’s side so far this season having started 27 games in the top-flight, but has struggled in terms of average rating, earning a disappointing 6.52 rating across those performances.

What is former Spurs defender Sol Campbell's real first name?

With Norwich looking likely to be relegated back to the Championship at this point, it would not be a surprise to see the young defender make the move to a bigger club in the Premier League this summer. Perhaps Spurs will also be able to prize the £18 million rated man away from the Canaries for a cut-price deal if they need to cash in on the England U’21 international.

Would Aarons be a good signing for Spurs?

TIF Tactics:

Spurs’ Serge Aurier has been their third-best performer in the Premier League this season but with Kyle Walker-Peters seemingly on his way out of the North London club, perhaps Aarons could provide some competition for the Ivory Coast international at right-back.

The young defender was named the EFL Young Player of the Year award last season for his performances with Norwich in the Championship so would certainly come with some pedigree, but no doubt Spurs fans would need to give him time to progress and live up to his obvious potential.
