In his latest Q and A session with Spurs fans, Alasdair Gold answered a question from a fan asking whether Jose Mourinho was still regularly in contact with his players.

A Spurs fan asked if there was any truth behind the rumour that Mourinho regularly texts his players encouraging them, which the Football.London journalist confirmed to be true. He said:

How well can you remember these obscure Spurs players? - Who is this?

“Pochettino did the same with WhatsApp, keeping in close contact with his players and sending them videos to watch of their performances and other players as inspiration.

Mourinho is also quite the texter apparently and has been keeping in regular contact with the players during this period.” per Football.London 17:35.

Are you surprised that Mourinho texts his players regularly to encourage them?

What do we think?

It is good to see that Mourinho is continuing to encourage his players and remind them how good they can be, despite the lack of football at the moment. Gold suggests that former Mauricio Pochettino, who was sacked by the North London club in November of last year, often did the same during his time as manager of the Lilywhites, so it seems to be a common theme amongst managers.

The Portuguese manager could potentially have a fully fit squad available to him should football actually resume this season, so he will no doubt want to keep spirits and confidence high, with the North London club no doubt eyeing up a spot in the top-four. They currently sit eighth in the Premier League; seven points off fourth-placed Chelsea, so it will take a huge effort in the remaining nine fixtures if they are to secure a place in next season’s Champions League.
