Spurs fans have been reacting to Harry Redknapp’s suggestion that the top earners at the club should be taking a wage cut to help the non-playing staff in these difficult times, with a lot of fans aiming criticism at Tanguy Ndombele.

LastWordonSpurs shared a quote from the former manager, as well as an image appearing to display the club’s top earners, which sees both Harry Kane and Ndombele on £200,000 a week. The quote, as per the Mirror, said: “Their average player earns £80,000, £90,000 or even up to £100,000 a week. Their top players maybe even £100,000-£200,000. Surely, players should be taking a cut.”

How well can you remember these obscure Spurs players? - Who is this?

Ndombele is clearly one of the club’s top earners, with the Frenchman having arrived for a club-record fee last summer, although it is difficult to argue that his performances have shown he is worthy of such a high wage. The 23-year-old has completed 90 minutes just five times in a Spurs shirt, with his seemingly poor fitness having caused issues throughout the season so far.

Does Ndombele deserve to be top earner with Kane?

Reaction from Spurs fans to Redknapp’s quotes and Ndombele’s wage can be seen in the tweets below.

These Spurs fans clearly feel that it is shocking that Ndombele earns £200k a week but seemingly won’t contribute a small percentage of his wage to help the non-playing staff who have been furloughed.

What do we think?

It seems crazy that Ndombele is the joint-top earner at the club when he has featured just 19 times in the Premier League so far this season and has averaged a fairly below-par 6.76 rating. Hopefully, the Spurs players come together to help out those struggling financially in these difficult times.
