Who is this?

The reply was:

“As of last night, Mike Ashley had still reached no agreement with the wannabe buyers. The price has not been agreed and Ashley is also still in the United States. Yes, there is paperwork from both parties with the Premier League but that is one of the usual formalities. He’s held some dialogue to sell the club but it’s not a done deal.”

There have been lots of talks recently about current Newcastle owner Mike Ashley selling the club to new owners such as a Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund (PIF) and British businesswoman Amanda Staveley.

Plenty of disgruntled Newcastle fans have protested against Ashley in the past, with many wanting him to relieve his position as the owner of the club.

Which is likely to happen first?

According to this latest update, it appears that while a final decision is not close to being confirmed, there are still talks going on around the matter of a potential takeover.

With the current global pandemic and lack of football around at this moment in time, it must surely have hindered these talks of a takeover.
