What do we think?
While many of the Newcastle fans appear to have taken Al Nofal’s comments to mean that the takeover deal is all but complete, there has still been no official confirmation from either side of the deal.
Having said this, reports in the Daily Mail on Monday claimed that the Saudi Arabian consortium led by Amanda Staveley paid Mike Ashley a non-refundable £17 million deposit, which is one of the surest signs yet that Staveley and the consortium are confident there will be no hold-ups.
As such, barring any unexpected last-minute hurdles, it would very much appear like the deal is going ahead as planned.
