Some Newcastle United fans have flocked to a tweet that was recently posted by Manu Lonjon, which shares four names that are on an alleged “shortlist” of managers who are being considered for the role of “future coach” at St. James’ Park.
Mauricio Pochettino, Massimiliano Allegri, and Lucien Favre are allegedly included on this shortlist according to Lonjon’s tweet, as well as former Magpies boss Rafael Benitez, who left Newcastle United last summer, claiming that the club “didn’t make [him] a proper offer” to stay.
However, amid reports that the Magpies are set to undergo a takeover which would “see them top the table for wealthiest owners in the Premier League”, as reported by The Daily Mail, a return to St. James’ Park could yet be on the cards for Benitez, should the club make him their target to become the next manager following the takeover which is reportedly in the works at present.
Many of the Magpies fans who have been responding to this tweet have shared that Benitez would be their preferred choice of manager from this list. Read the responses of some Newcastle fans to Lonjon’s recent post in the tweets below.

Rafa! Understand if ppl think Poch because he does have his team playing good football but we will be in a transition phase. Rafa’s a proven winner. He knows the club and players. He had a vision for the club and now he’ll be able to sign the type of quality he couldn’t before.

Rafa for me, loves the club, tried to fight for the club against Ashley, he deserves the chance to take the club foward with strong backing. That’s if he’s willing to leave where he is now as he signed quite a lucrative contract

What do we think?
As stated by the BBC, “Benitez was adored by the Newcastle fans” during his time at the club. With that in mind, it may be understandable why some Magpies supporters would like to see the Spaniard return to St. James’ Park.
