Fans of Manchester City have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays comments made by Ajax centre-back Edson Alvarez.
In a recent Q&A on the official Ajax Instagram account (via Football Oranje), the 22-year-old revealed that he is dreaming of a move to Manchester City, who he apparently supported as a child.
He stated: “I would really like to play for Manchester City one day. I have been following that club since childhood and I think it is a really nice club, I am a fan. So if I had to choose, I would like to play for City.”
In reaction to his comments, which were relayed by Man City Xtra on Twitter, fans of the club have flocked to have their say on the matter, with some claiming that City should sign the £7.2 million-rated centre-back, while others have suggested that Alvarez would not be good enough to get in the City side.

What do we think?
While many Manchester City fans appear to be split about the idea of their club making a move for Alvarez, his stats would suggest that there may be better options out there for City in the centre-back department.
So far this season, the 22-year-old has struggled for first-team games, making just 12 appearances for Ajax in the Eredivisie, while averaging a less-than-impressive WhoScored match rating of 6.66.
Meanwhile, despite his declarations regarding his dream to one day play for City, it would appear that City fans remain split as to whether he deserves the chance to make his dream a reality.
