Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse would be the perfect replacement for Liverpool’s James Milner – according to writer Josh Williams.
The 25-year-old’s versatility, most notably his ability to fill in at full-back, has led to the comparison between the Saints midfielder and the former Manchester City player.
It was recently suggested on the Analysing Anfield podcast, which was hosted by Williams and David Hughes, that Ralph Hasenhuttl plays a similar brand of football to Klopp, therefore arguing the adaptation won’t be as painful (via Liverpool Echo).
An acquisition of Ward-Prowse, if it were to materialise, would also assist the Anfield club in filling their ‘homegrown’ quota. He’s currently valued at £13.05m according to Transfermarkt.co.uk and his current contract is not due to expire until June 2022.
Here’s what some of the Liverpool fans have had to say regarding the claim.
This would be a signing I would be all over, one of the most underrated players in the league and has one of the and if not the best dead ball delivery in the league

What do we think?
James Ward-Prowse, a central-midfielder by trade, has made 29 appearances in the Premier League this season and so far he has contributed four goals and three assists as well as having played every single minute for Hasenhuttl’s side (via Transfermarkt.co.uk).
Whilst his market value seems rather modest, we believe that if the Reds were to be interested, they would need to pay significantly more given the player’s importance to his current employers.
