Some Leicester City supporters have flocked to a tweet that was recently posted by Foxes-focused Twitter account @FIRST4LCFC, which has shared recent reports claiming that Leicester are allegedly interested in signing Philippe Coutinho.

As stated by @FIRST4LCFC, Spanish football expert Guillem Balague has recently claimed that the Foxes are the only team to have shown an interest in signing Coutinho ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.

Balague confirmed this in a video that was recently posted to his YouTube channel, in which he goes on to claim that “Coutinho’s representatives are looking into the Premier League”.

What do we think?

The Daily Mirror linked Leicester City with the 27-year-old playmaker in an article that was published on 30th March, claiming that Foxes manager Brendan Rodgers “would love to work with the midfielder again”, having previously signed Coutinho during his tenure as Liverpool boss

However, that report from The Mirror also claimed that Barcelona would be hoping to receive a transfer fee in excess of £105m for Coutinho. This would be more than twice as much money as the Foxes have ever spent on a player. The £40.5m that they paid to bring Youri Tielemans to the King Power Stadium is currently the largest transfer fee that the Foxes have spent on a player, as per Transfermarkt.co.uk.

Spanish publication Sport has recently reported that Barca may be willing to accept a fee of just over £52m for the player if he is first signed on a season-long loan deal, after which the buying club would be obliged to complete the signing on a permanent basis.

It may be fair to assume that Leicester might be unlikely to spend over £105m to sign Coutinho. However, if these recent reports from Sport are to be believed, the Foxes may well manage to work out a deal for the 27-year-old Brazilian, who is allegedly looking into a Premier League return, as per Balague.
