Who would you rather have as goalkeeper for the Toffees currently?Joel RoblesJordan Pickford |
The Spanish stopper was situated in Merseyside for five years between 2013 and 2018, having arrived from Atletico Madrid and departed for Real Betis on a free transfer (per Transfermarkt).
Over those five seasons with the Toffees, the 29-year-old made 65 appearances for Everton, during which he kept 25 clean sheets and conceded 78 goals (per Transfermarkt), leaving fans keen on him.
Always played 100% when he put on his shirt, loved to play and took his chances when Howard got injured.
Would still love him to be our sub keeper but he was too good for the bench

Excellent backup. Always turned up, played for the badge. Not much more to ask for a backup goalie

Underrated and far better than Pickford imo

Should’ve played more when Howard was clearly past his best.

Top man, really. Underrated keeper, he was loyal and loved the club. Happy for him that he’s number 1 at Real Betis, he deserves it.

What do we think?
As can be judged from the supporters’ responses, it is clear to see that many miss having Robles at the club but felt that he deserved better than being a back-up ‘keeper.
Interestingly, though, with 25 clean sheets in 65 games (per Transfermarkt), Robles kept only nine fewer clean sheets than Jordan Pickford has done for the Toffees in 120 games (per Transfermarkt).
