Aston Villa fans have been pleading with their star man Jack Grealish to stay at the club beyond the end of this current season. Although the 24-year-old’s current contract is not due to expire until June 2023, the midfielder’s future at Villa Park could come into question if his club were to suffer relegation from the Premier League.

Manchester United are said to be interested in the Englishman, despite recent reports that the Birmingham-based club would demand a fee in the region of £80m to release the player.

Who scored Villa's first goal in the Premier League this season?

Grealish commented on the club’s Twitter post ahead of a live stream of their dominant 5-1 victory over local rivals Birmingham City in April 2008, and fans flocked to his tweet to beg the attacking midfielder to stay put.

Will Grealish stay at Villa if the club are relegated?

The midfielder’s tweet was in regards to the former Aston Villa forward Gabriel Agbonlahor, who retired prematurely in 2019 at the age of 32. This fan was keen to point out that he hoped Grealish’s career would not end in similar circumstances.

What do we think?

Aston Villa appear to be heavily reliant upon Jack Grealish this season, with the midfielder having scored seven goals and provided six assists in the Premier League so far this season. Dean Smith’s side currently find themselves in the bottom three, but if they do overcome the challenge posed by the possibility of relegation, it could be a huge step towards convincing their star player to stay with his boyhood club that little bit longer.
