Aston Villa fans on Twitter have been responding to recent comments made by former Villan Carles Gil about his time in England.
This comes after Villa-focused Twitter account @astonforza shared a post on their page relaying the comments made by Gil in a recent interview with Super Deporte.
Regarding his time at the Birmingham club, Gil revealed that his time there didn’t go well but that he was comfortable at the club, before adding that he doesn’t regret the move.
This post then gathered a lot of replies from Villa fans who were eager to share their thoughts on the player.
Here’s a sample of Villa fans responding to the post:
Gil: “I’ve played in the PL, at a big club like Villa which in the long run didn’t go well but I was very comfortable there. I don’t regret the move.” #avfc pic.twitter.com/kupXdgcYcW

I’d have him and Veretout back under better management. We were rudderless when they came.

Was Carles Gil good enough for Villa?
Yes
No
The Spaniard first signed to Villa back in January 2015 from Valencia for a fee of £3.78 million. In the 2016 summer transfer window, Gil was sent back to Spain on a two-year loan deal at Deportivo de La Coruna, where he signed permanently in 2018 (per Transfermarkt).
During his time at Villa, the 27-year-old made 34 appearances for the club in which he scored three goals and provided three assists (per Transfermarkt). Now that these comments from Gil have emerged on Twitter, this has opened the door for lots of Villa fans to reflect on his time at the club.
Come back then Prince

What do we think?
It’s good to see these Villa fans still have positive feelings towards Gil, even though he didn’t really have a big impact on the team in terms of goals and assists.
