Aston Villa fans on Twitter have been responding to recently posted footage from a clash between them and Leeds United from last season.
This comes after Villa fan Twitter account @villaontour_ shared a post on their page containing video footage, which was originally posted by @SkyFootball, featuring Leeds’ controversial goal and the fiery aftermath during the 1-1 draw between the two teams last season.
This post then gathered a lot of replies from Villa fans who were eager to share their thoughts on the footage once again.
Here’s a sample of Villa fans responding to the post:
1 year ago today the weirdest thing I have ever and probably will ever see at a football match. Absolutely mental #avfc #lufc pic.twitter.com/ecmRBcre39

Were Leeds right to let Villa score an equalising goal?
No
Yes
The footage shows Leeds’ Mateusz Klich scoring the opening goal of the game, whilst Villa’s Jonathan Kodjia was down injured. This goal then set off a huge scuffle between the two sets of players which saw Anwar El Ghazi receive a red card. When the play resumed after the goal, Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa demanded his side allow Villa to score an equaliser straight from kick-off, which they did. Now that this footage has been doing the rounds on Twitter once again, this gathered a lot of replies from Villa fans who were eager to reflect on the situation.
Completely forgot Anwar got a red for no reason ???????????????

The rage I had when they scored that goal . The El Ghazi phantom red as well. What a joke. Letting us score was the least they could do!

Really loved the passion for Hourihane here

Fair play to Bielsa for that. Did what the ref should have done.

What do we think?
This incident certainly caused a stir between the two teams at the time. It’s good to see these Villa fans looking back on it with the benefit of hindsight.
