Aston Villa-focused Twitter account @Total_Villa recently posted a tweet asking fans of the club if they would like to see former Villa loanee Axel Tuanzebe return to the club.

After originally joining Aston Villa in January 2018 in a deal which saw the defender spend the remainder of the 2017/18 season at the club, Tuanzebe subsequently returned to Villa Park on a season-long loan for the 2018/19 campaign.

During that year, Tuanzebe made 25 appearances for the Villans during the regular Championship season, helping the club to finish in fifth place in the table. The former England U21 international then featured in all three of Villa’s Championship play-off games that term, helping the club to earn promotion to the Premier League for the current season.

Following that campaign, Tuanzebe returned to his parent club Manchester United. Having featured in just 10 games for the Red Devils in all competitions this term, @Total_Villa has recently taken to Twitter to ask Villa fans if they would like to see the 22-year-old defender return to Villa Park. Read some Villa fans’ responses to @Total_Villa’s recent post in the tweets below.

What do we think?

As he was a member of their squad during the 2018/19 season when they successfully achieved promotion from the Championship, it may be understandable why some Villa fans have called for Tuanzebe, who is currently valued at £7.2m according to Transfermarkt.co.uk, to return to the club.

However, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has described Tuanzebe as “the future of Manchester United” less than a year ago, back in July 2019. Furthermore, while Tuanzebe has featured in just 10 games for the Red Devils in all competitions this season, he has been suffering from injuries throughout the 2019/20 campaign which may have had a significant impact on his game time.

Therefore, considering the previous praise from his current manager, it may be unlikely that the 22-year-old defender will be on the Red Devils’ transfer list this summer.
