Some West Brom fans have been sharing their displeasure on social media regarding Jonathan Bond’s performance in Tuesday’s FA Cup clash with Newcastle United.
Bond made his fourth start of the season in all competitions versus Newcastle on Tuesday. The Baggies’ recent FA Cup fixture also allowed the 26-year-old goalkeeper to earn his third FA Cup start of the season, having started both of the Baggies’ previous two FA Cup fixtures during the 2019/20 campaign.
Bond, who is valued at £225k by Transfermarkt.co.uk, arrived at The Hawthorns on a free transfer in July 2018. The 26-year-old has made a total of just seven first-team appearances in his two seasons as a Baggies player thus far, with all seven of them coming in cup competitions.
The goalkeeper may particularly have drawn the ire of West Brom fans in the aftermath of Tuesday’s FA Cup tie due to his involvement in Newcastle’s third goal. One Baggies supporter made a post on Twitter sharing footage of Newcastle’s third goal, which was scored by Valentino Lazaro, as a result of the ball being parried into his path by Bond.
Some Baggies supporters have been reacting negatively to Bond’s most recent FA Cup performance on social media. Read the negative reactions from some Baggies supporters to Bond’s performance versus Newcastle in the tweets below.

It’s not been that bad a performance considering the changes. Plenty of chances but too many mistakes at back, Bond in particular looking shaky #wba

If SJ is bad I don’t even wanna know what bond is #WBANEW #wba

What do we think?
According to WhoScored.com, Bond made a total of four saves in Tuesday’s game, which is one more save than the website credits Newcastle’s Karl Darlow with making in this fixture. Despite this, The Magpies managed to score from three of their seven shots on target.
Newcastle’s third goal, in particular, didn’t shine a bright light on the 26-year-old’s performance in Tuesday’s clash. Having conceded three goals, it may be understandable why some West Brom fans have been critical of Bond on social media in the wake of their FA Cup exit.
