A lot of Leeds United fans are furious with the FA after they released their written reasons for why they banned Kiko Casilla for eight matches after he was found guilty of using racist language towards Jonathan Leko.
The independent commission that ruled on the case actually reduced Casilla’s ban – as the FA wanted the 33-year-old to be banned for 10 games.
What do you think of the FA's decision now that they have released their reasons?
Still too harsh as there is no concrete evidence
Totally agree with the ban handed to Casilla
They rejected Casilla’s claim that he had never heard of the word he is alleged to have used.
However, they do not believe that the 33-year-old is a racist, and the incident was at odds with his character.
This tweet from Adam Pope about the FA’s reasons has not gone down well with these Leeds fans, who feel the FA are corrupt.
The Independent Regulatory Commission has realeased its written reasons into Casilla’s ban (62 pages long). FA wanted a 10 match suspension but IRC felt that was too severe. #lufc

What a strange statement. Despite inconsistencies in their statements, Leko and Bonne are considered entirely credible witnesses. Kiko maintains his stance throughout but they just don’t believe him. It’s an interesting read but the “degree well above” wasn’t apparent to me…

anti-leeds, if i’m not mistaken Fernando Forestieri served a six match ban and £25,000 fine when he was found GUILTY for racism, but when Kiko was found NOT GUILTY they give him an eight match ban and £60,000 fine because he “probably” said it

Course they Did.. ? Pity didn’t want to ban Two Derby County Players who were actually found guilty in Court. ?

Disgusted that the FA wanted a longer ban for a he said she said situation. Kiko is Spanish and Negro is Spanish for black – why was this totally ignored by the FA. Shame on the FA.

Oh how nice of them, so considerate!

Is this genuine though or is it like the kid at school that thought he’d get a A in English by writing pages and pages of meaningless tosh. Doesn’t tell us a great deal of fact in fairness.

What do we think?
Casilla’s decision to claim that he had never heard of the term he used seems like an ill-advised thing to say, and judging by the report, this went heavily against him.
The fact that the FA wanted Casilla to be banned for 10 matches shows just how serious they thought this case to be.
So, the fact that he will only be missing until Leeds play Barnsley could perhaps be seen as a positive for the Whites.
